Review of course.

The course had come to an end... Its time to review....
1. What I like about blogging.
What I like about blogging? Well, I can share my thoughts and feelings freely here and also
keep a record of the progress and also what have i done over the semester. It helped me to
check on what should i compile into my portfolio as well..

2. What I do not like about blogging.
I do like blogging when I am forced to do so. When i have topic or intersting events to share
i'll be happy to blog but when i dont find anything special or significant to talk about I'll hate
blogging when it is made compulsory for us to blog.

3. What have I gain from blogging eg. Language skills, improved fluency, critical thinking,
improved thought processes, technology skills etc.
Firstly, I learnt how to blog! I havent had an account on blogspot until I started this course.
The more i blog, the better my flow of writting is. I am able to convey the meaning clearly
through words now... Besides that, when i start to blog, i will also read blog post from others
and improve my vocabulary.. If you are interested of my source of vocabs, come to me for
further information.

4. How?
By writing more and reading more help me develop writing skill. It also helps to improve my
organisation skills for writing. It also helps me learn new words when i read other blogs...

5. what I like about the course
I learnt how to ensure how to make photos, videos and audios appear at its best. The course
is structured to be not as acedemic as others courses and i feel as though i am taking an IT
course.

6. what I do not like about the course
As we are suppose to learn more about using and developing materials for classroom and not
only focused on technology knowledge. We were merely taught on how to use resources in
the classroom but did a lot of technological work such as photo editing and audio editing
which i dont see any significance in teaching in a classroom.

7. what I have learnt from the course
I learnt to be coorperate better with my friends, to be able to follow datelines, learnt about
many types of software for photo editing, audio editing and video editing.

8. what I do not expect but have learnt from the course
Technology knowledge. Did not expect to learn that much of technology things in this course
as we are having another core course which is technology in ESL classroom.

9. what I expect but have not learnt from the course.
To evaluate effectiveness of teaching aids, using newspapers in classrooms, ensuring
effectiveness of teaching materials.

Compliments to...

I shall hereby announce the end of our course PBEY 3102, Using and Developing Resources has come to the end of the semester. The completion of the port folio is as though the marking point of the end of the semester....

I would like to take the chance in my blog to thanks those who had helped me a lot in the course... First of all, I would like to thank Bak Zi yang, as he is always the motivator for my gang to complete our assignments.

Secondly, Connie and Rubini, as they are my beloved roommate + housemate + classmate+..... and they had always make sure that i am able to complete my assignments and tasks before they go to sleep the night before the assignments.

Thirdly, Afiq, as he was willing to be our group member for the meterial developing assignment when we had problems looking for group members after the raya break... thanks to him for his help and everything for the assignment.

Next, is my group members for video editing task as they did not have any complains although I was not able to do any parts of the task set by my lecturer. I was lucky to have such understanding groupmates that they understand that i had tried my best though i did not contributed anything at the final product...

Not to forget my senior that has given me all his notes to help me study for my test... It helped me a lot...

Last but not least, the most important person in this semester is our beloved lecturer, Pn Foziah. She had taught us true heartedly and set lots of task to ensure that we are able to benifit from her lessons. I learnt a lot throughout the semester from Pn Foziah not only knowledge on developing technology resources but she had also inspired me a lot on how we should be professional and how important issit to work according to instructions and also meeting datelines. I also learnt that I need to work hard on completing my assignments to obtain my degree and not sit back and relax.... I also realize that as an educator, i need to develop good planning skills so that i am able to manage my time and get things done in the shortest time...
Still thanks to Puan Foziah for being able to inspire me to change my view towards the role of an educator...

Finally!!! Port folio is done!!!

I am officially announcing here that I have completed compiling my portfolio!!!

It was indeed a very difficult task for me to ensure that the thickness of my portfolio to be presentable as all my tutorials were all short and simple and i did not do much extra other than the task assigned by our lecturer....

Maybe the quantity of work compiled in it is not that satisfying, but at least i manage to ensure that i had completed all the task assigned and did all of them properly which i believe should be able to contribute to improve the quality of my portfolio.... I also hope that it is able to meet the requirements of my lecturer assessing it which is neatness, quantity and quality...

Most important, it reveals the number of skills that i have learn and task that i have done over the semester. Although some of them are skills that i already know like audio editing, photo editing, producing a video out of a collection of photos but still i enjoyed doing them as they are not as academic as the rest such as writing lesson plans.... Yet, i still hope that i can learn more about resources in classroom that are non-tech cos we are only focused on technology resources.

Hard time getting my portfolio done...

I am currently having a hard time to get my port folio done....

There are so many files to be printed and in order to ensure that i am able to present my port folio at its best, i'll need to print them in colour... I just changed a new cartridge after the Raya break and my ink has gone low even before i am done printing my materials for the portfolio.... Aiyo.. Pity my printer....

It is also hard for me to search for all the materials that i have produced to be printed out into my portfolio as i had lost more than half of my files and are only able to get some of them from my group members that i worked with... Thanks to them...

I was also lucky that our lecturer is mercyfull enough to extend the date to hand in the port folio as i am facing quite a number of problems getting my portfolio done....

Pray hard that i am able to complete the portfolio...

Course Final Test!!!

Yeay!!! We had finally sat for the test for the course. Since this is the one and only test in this course, it carries a heavy percentage of the overall marks for the course. I was quite stressed up because i do not really have much notes to study for the test. Notes that was uploaded on ADEC was not sufficient as it does not cover all the topics that was discuss and presented by my coursemates in class.

Fortunately, I manage to get some of the notes from our senior which was quite similar from the ones discussed and presented in class. The notes was as though a savior for me as i did very badly for both my assignments for certain reasons that was mentioned in my post earlier. I am very thankful that i have quite a number of helpful seniors who are willing to give me advise and assisstence... Credits goes to Julia Choo, Moo Yong Yun Mun, Jarrod Sio, Chin Ming Kiat and Joey Yap... Thanks again to these people...

The test questions turn out to be unexpected. Firstly, it was because they are quite ambiguios and I find it quite hard to understand some of the questions as the expectations were not really clear to me... Maybe it was because I have poor interpretating skills. Should check with my coursemates if they are having the same problem as I do...

Sadly, I couldn't finish answering the paper in the time allocated for us which is two hours. I faced a lot of problems planning the storyline and designing the story board in half an hour as there was so many story boards to draw. I found out that i did the story board wrongly as i did not include wat was required by our lecterer which is to describe the effect and music used for the story board.

Anyway, it is too late to be sad over the test as there is nothing i can go to change my results now... The only thing that i can do is to pray reeaal hard to be able to pass the course as i donot have much time to spare for repeating any courses. One more port folio to go... Just work hard and try to make sure that my port folio meets the lecturer's requirements....

Assignment 3

This assignment had help me think and plan carefully lessons to teach a topic for a week by working on all four skills which is listening, speaking, writing and reading. It was indeed quite a hard one as I have no idea what is there that i can do that much with the topic 'Food'.

After looking through several workbooks and activity books for young learners and not to forget some help from my seniors and friends, i finally came out with a few ideas what do i need to do with my lessons....

I was easy to type out all the lesson plan but my problem was with the printing part.... OMG!!! I just got a new rim of A4 paper and new cartridge for my printer... Half of my paper was gone because i needed to print out a lot of visual aids and tutorials for developing my materials... It was a hard time for me printing all those.... What to do? My printer is not a laser printer... It is too slow....

Finally, the assingment is compiled with my other group members and it is handed in.... Phew..... Blood pressure back to normal now.....

Assignment 2

At last, I am able to shout out load to the world that i had completed my second assignment in time!!!
Wait a minute, still too early to be happy... The assignment is not handed in yet....

I tried my very best to apply knowledge and skills that i had been learning throughout the semester like editing videos, editing audio downloading software and using it to convert files from one format to another... So I thought that it would be good if i am able to add in the latest technologies in teaching aids which is the SMARTboard as it has several features that are cannot be found in conventional power point presentations.

I got permission from my lecturer and start working on my E-book which is done on SMARTboard. Happily working on the assignment and feeling very satisfied that i had put an effort on my assignment as i always do last minute work but I started working on it more than a week before the due date!! I am proud of myself! =P

Sadly, I found out from my lecturer that my assignment is not accepted because it does not use the conventional software such as microsoft office.... Disappointed as all my effort on the assignment is dumped into South China Sea... I wonder secretly if it will find its way to Selangau so that schools there can adopt my work in their teaching and learning? Looks like my imaginations are going to far.... What to do? Just hope for the best and prepare for the worst...

Pray hard for me that i don't need to repeat this course!!

Moral of the lesson:Play safe with conventional stuff around and don't try anything new in assignments...

Assignments? Task? Which Is Which?

Assignments? Or is it just a task? Till now i still cant cope with the new learning style in UM... This that is why my seniors told me that life in UM is different from life in MPIK.

I am still trying my very best to complete every task given by the lecturer but still I tend to mix up everything and find it difficult to be sure of what am I suppose to do for certain assignments and task.

I had just completed one that I thought is a task, developing teaching aids for four skills but when I upload my file onto ADEC, I was surprise to see a row of words below the column to browse files. It is written ' send assignment for marking'?!! What!!! Its an assignment? Oh My God!!!

Will need to wait till tomorrow when I see my lecturer again to confirm whether I need to send it in as an assignment to be marked.

I hope we are able to receive clearer instructions for assignments.

Pray hard that i wont need to repeat the course next academic year because I am still lost...

Thanks to Puan Foziah for allowing us to upload our videos... At last!! I manage to upload my video!!! Yeay!!!

I would like to take this opportunity to say to the people who appeared in my video 'I LOVE U GUYS A LOT!!!' I am happy to have these people around me to help me go through everything in my life... Who says that technology is a cold and robotic thing? I can spread love and warmth too!!!!

So, another lesson learnt... NEVER MISS DATE LINES! Or you'll make your own life miserable...

Making my own personal video!!!

This is not my first time making a video using Windows Movie Maker, the first goes to my assignment for Technology for primary classroom where we have to produce a video for educational purposes. This time, we are allow to produce a video based on any theme out of education purposes. Finally, i can do a video on the most important people in my life and express my feelings!!! Yeay!!!

I never start any of my work early in these years studying this course but this time, i was so excited that I started planning and working on my task immediately after the lecture given by Pn Foziah. Very motivated to choose which photo to put in and edit the sequence of the video preperly.

After I had finish doing my video and convert it into video file, I went to adec to check what am i suppose to do next. Sadly, i found out that the limit for this task is 4 minutes but the video that i had produced ia almost 9 minutes!!! Oh my god!! Every part of the video is so important and significant in my four years studies in KL... What am I going to do?

Finally, i decided to shorten my video. I said goodbye to the photos that are not so important and shorten the whole video to four minutes... I hope the essence of the video still remains though I'd deleted many of the photos in my video.

Now, its time to upload my video and share them with my friends (especially those who appeared in my video). I cant wait to show them my video and get the message through. Sadly (again...), i couldn't upload the video. But, since there is still a couple of days to the dateline, i dod not worry much about uploading.

I thought my failure of uploading the video was due to the slow speed of my internet connection at home as I am still using dial-up at home!!! I went to my mom's colleague's house to get broadband connection... many times faster than the connection at home. After sitting there for 8 hours and troubling them to serve me tea and snacks on and off, i still couldn't upload the video. so i decided to try again the next day.

Days passed, i tried everyday, sitting in front of my laptop trying to upload the video. Until my dad almost barred me from using the internet i still couldn't upload the video. Sad and disappointed, i missed the dateline.

Till now, I still hope i am able to upload my video onto youtube in the same account with my friends so that the people that i'll like to address can view my video. If I will am not allowed to upload it into the same account with others, i'll still upload it on youtube and I hope that i can still get comments from all my coursemates so that i can improve on my work next time....

Fingers cross that i can upload my video onto youtube!

At last... I know for what i shoulld do photo editing!!

I kept wondering, for what purpose should I learn photo editing? If I were to take a photo and edit everything on it, then it is not the original and natural me. I prefer to have photos of myself that looks like me rather than having my photos edited and end up nobody recognizing that it is me.

But now, my views on photo editing had changed. Me and my dear Connie went to meet up with our seniors on their convocation day to see them for the last time before they are posted to places far away from KL. Knowing that we might not meet for sometime, we took a lot of photos.

For my height, I did not have much problem taking photos with Joey and Ming Kiat, they turn out to be nice but when it comes to Jarrod…. He is way too tall. All the photos turn out to be horrible. So I decided that I might as well stand on the stairs as the platform so that there wont be such a drastic difference in our height.

Unfortunately, my camera man Eliana did not take the photos properly and it can be clearly seen that I was standing on the stairs to look taller. Thanks to Photoshop I am able to crop the lower part of our legs so that people wont see that I am standing on a platform. Now the photo is perfect and I love the photo very much!!!

Besides cropping out part of the photo, I can also get rid of unwanted people in the photos. As we all know, right after the convo where everybody are busy taking photos with families and friends, and the place was sooooooo crowded!!! I do not need to worry that I have someone ‘extra’ in my photo.

Photo editing, a very useful skill that everyone should learn. We as teachers should master the skill so that we can use real life photos which are properly edited in classrooms.

Caution!!! Photos seen here might not be true....

Again, I felt a little reluctant to attend today's lecture because I was sleepy.......

Ok, no more lame excuses....

Our fourth lecture, not looking forward because the hours were too long........ 3 hours!!!

The lecturer ended up to be interesting because we were taught how to edit photo's using photo shop. Our lecturer uploaded edited photos of Wu Chun and Ella on ADEC as an example for us... As I used to be a fan of Wu Chun, I enjoyed it!!!

Next is our working time, we were all given a task to edit photos using photoshop.... Me.... Again..... Not a very techno savvy person had never used photoshop before so i decided not to start my task when i do not know anything about it.

I logged onto Youtube and watched several videos on how to use the software.

I also watch videos that show what a miricle can photoshop do to a photo. I can be as beautiful and as curvy as Miss Universe by the help of photoshop *laugh*!!

It was an intersting lecture and i hope that I can master the use of the software then i can do what ever i want with any photos..... HAHAHAHA!!!!

Josh, Bak, Connie and Ruby...... Beware of me and my photoshop!!!!!

The Third Lecture....

This is our third lecture of the course. We were required to work in our groups and discuss about our assignments. I was fortunate enough to be in the same group with Joshua, Khairel, Jez and Ayuni. As i am not very techno savvy and our assignments requires a lot of IT work, I am happy that i have my groupmates around to help...

For this assignement, we are required to choose a topic from the Year 5 textbook and a specific objective on what do we want to teach using technology and different reaources. Many were lost as we do not have the textbook with us. I was lucky enough that i taught Year 5 classes when I was in S.K. Taman Midah for my SBE. So our group chose the topic 'Travel and Adventure'.

Through this lecture, I start to see the usage of technology used in developing teaching resources. It will really help me a lot if i were to posted to a school in an urban area in two years time. Can't believe that I am going to become a teacher in no time.

I hope that the course would be able to help me make my lesson interesting and effective to ensure my pupils are all able to benifit from my lessons.

My main aim : Teach properly and do not ruin any kids' future...

Our second lecture

It was indeed a very hard time without internet access at home. No online TVB series, no chatting with friends, can't check my email and contact my aunt in UK....WORST-- Assignments cant be done....

This week, we are here at Makmal Komputer 2 for our lecture. This week, we are expected to get into our groups and start working on our assignments. It took the class some time to get the registration of the group done because there were several misunderstandings that occur like who should be at which group and everyone was bugging the lecturer to change their groupings.

Finally, my classmate came out with an idea and saved the day. Registering online, still a very new experience for me as we do not have this when we were still in IPIK. Looks like UM is really different from IPIK.

I learn from the lecture on how to edit photos. It is something new to me and it seemed interesting. I can make a lot of funny photos from that. Imagine cutting Joshua's head and putting it on Connie's neck.... HAHAHAHA!!

Sad that i still do not have internet access at my rented house. Waiting for the internet access and download the software to edit photos or add special effect!!!

Resources lecture.... M Loving It...

Welcome!

Finally, I manage to get myself here to write a sentence or two. This is my first post for this blog and it is also my first blog ever on blogspot. Not that I had never post or own a blog account before just that i had never took one seriously. Thanks to my Teaching Resources course lecturer, Pn Foziah, that I start to really look into what i can do in blogging.

Here, I hope that am able to learn more and share about blogging, teaching resources, teachnology, my experiences, thoughts and many others that I am not able to name them yet. I do hope that everyone can come have a look here and feel free to leave me a comment or related interesting links to share with others.
